East West Tie: Expropriation Application

An application by Upper Canada Transmission (operating as NextBridge Infrastructure) (NextBridge) has been submitted to the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) to expropriate certain lands for the construction and operation of the East West Tie Project

On February 11, 2019, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) issued its decision and order granting NextBridge approval to construct a new double circuit 230 kilovolt overhead electricity transmission line between Thunder Bay and Wawa in northwestern Ontario (East-West Tie Project).

Red Sky Métis Independent Nation either participated in the OEB’s hearing on NextBridge’s application for approval to construct the East-West Tie Project or was identified by the former Ministry of Energy, as one of the Métis communities to be consulted in relation to the East-West Tie Project.

Please be informed that NextBridge has now filed an application with the OEB to expropriate certain lands needed for the construction and operation of the East-West Tie Project. The OEB has assigned file no. EB-2019-0127 to this application and has commenced a hearing on the matter. All documents in relation to this application are available on the OEB’s website.
