In accordance with the requirements of Section 7.1(1) of the Environmental Assessment Act (EAA), the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (ministry) is hereby giving notice of the completion of the Ministry Review (Review) of the amended Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Hardrock Project. The Review will now be made available for available for a five (5) week public inspection and comment period.
Please find attached, for your review and comment, a copy of the Review of the Amended EA for the Hardrock Project and accompanying cover letter. The Review presents the ministry’s opinion as to whether the amended EA for the Hardrock Project has been prepared in accordance with a proponent’s approved Terms of Reference, has met the requirements of the EAA, and includes sufficient information to allow the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (Minister) to make a decision about the proposed undertaking for which approval under the Act is being sought. It should be noted that the Review itself is not a decision making mechanism. The Minister’s decision about an undertaking described in the amended EA will be made after the conclusion of the review and comment period that follows the publication of the Review.
The ministry would like to kindly request that your Indigenous community please review the attached documentation, and share its opinions with the ministry. The ministry would like to kindly request that the opinions of your community be shared by way of written letter or electronic mail, addressed to the undersigned, on or before November 26, 2018.
