The Forest Management Liaison will participate in the collection and evaluation of forest management planning information provided from forest planning committee meetings, and the summarization and reporting of meetings and information to Red Sky Métis Independent Nation (RSMIN) Consultation Committee.

Forest Management Liaison

Thunder Bay, ON Full-time, Contract

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Attend area seminars and other meetings as necessary
  • Collect and analyze data
  • Summarize data collected
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Prepare materials for RSMIN Committee review
  • Manage and respond to project related email and phone calls
  • Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations
  • Adapt to changing Internal processes
  • To meet with RSMIN Council and or Consultation Committee as required, provide expertise where applicable

Additional Expectations:

  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the consultation committee.
  • This position is based at the main office in Thunder Bay and requires travel within the city of Thunder Bay and surrounding areas, as well as some travel away from Thunder Bay.

Attendance

  • Mandatory attendance at the main office during Core Hours from 10:00am till 3:00pm
  • Flex hours are offered to offset life scheduling and meetings. (e.g. a day of 7am-3pm or 10am-6pm or 10am-3pm + 6pm-9pm.)
  • A balance of 37.5 hours per week must be maintained, and hours balanced each pay cycle
  • Responsible for keeping track of hours, and scheduling meetings on calendars

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or acquiring a degree in a relevant field of study or 2 years of relevant experience in a Forestry / Forest Management related capacity
  • Experience in a field relating to sensitive information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present and facilitate small and large scale meetings
  • Proficiency in windows 10, word processing and Internet applications
  • Self motivated and ability to work in a team or with little or no supervision
  • Ability to record and report accurately and proficiently
  • General understanding of the forestry and other regulatory processes in Ontario
  • Valid driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract
  • Criminal background check
