We are currently seeking an individual in the role of:
Senior Geologist – Gold
Vancouver, British Columbia
The Exploration Group is seeking a Senior Geologist to drive Au exploration efforts, primarily in eastern Canada. Based in Vancouver or Timmins, and reporting through the Exploration Manager, Canada-USA, the Senior Geologist is an integral member of Teck’s Exploration group. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, contributing to the planning and execution of deposit- and district-scale exploration programs for Orogenic Gold mineralization in eastern Canada.
Knowledge of, and experience with Archean Orogenic Gold deposits at various stages are required skills. Direct knowledge and exploration experience in the Abitibi Subprovince will be highly regarded. The ability to integrate exploration data across a range of parameters, including geology, geochemistry and geophysics is essential. Proven ability to work with and lead a multidisciplinary exploration team will be highly regarded. A significant component of field/site work is expected
 Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, community and the environment
 Promote Teck’s Courageous Safety Leadership (CSL) culture
 Engage with First Nations and other stakeholders in and around Teck’s exploration activities
 Provide project management oversight and leadership including management of geological, geophysical and geochemical data collection, analysis, interpretation and 3D modelling
 Oversee management of contractors, including drilling contractors
 Oversee all elements of exploration targeting, sequencing, program design, execution and reporting across multiple projects, spanning deposit- to district-scales
 Ensure that all work is done in accordance with industry and Teck best practice
 Provide guidance and mentorship of geological staff
 Contribute to district-scale exploration strategy development
 Lead development and management of an exploration team to execute future exploration programs
 Proactively target and evaluate third-party opportunities and build a network of exploration contacts in eastern Canada
 Demonstration of superior technical ability, including knowledge of Archean Orogenic Gold systems
 Familiarity with common GIS, 3D modelling and geochemical software, with emphasis on ArcGIS, Leapfrog and ioGAS
 Previous Leadership of a successful exploration team, including management of multiple projects
 Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely in small-medium teams
 Extensive experience in the successful planning, acquisition, interpretation and evaluation of exploration data
 A minimum BSc or equivalent degree in geology and twelve years of relevant experience. A relevant post-graduate degree will be considered an asset.
 Ability to work in Canada
