As site Electrician your responsibilities will be to install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls.
Job Summary:
• Read and understand electrical schematics and effectively trouble-shoot electrical controls.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments.
• Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
• Work with the maintenance management system in order to conduct preventative maintenance work and keep maintenance records.
• Test electrical and electronic equipment and components. Troubleshoot, diagnose equipment failures, and identify root cause for electrical equipment throughout plant, using both hardware and software.
• Maintain, repair, test and install electrical equipment.
• Install wiring and programs for equipment.
• Install, examine, replace or repair electrical equipment.
• Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials
• Correct unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
• Use appropriate test equipment as required.
Qualifications:
• Completion of secondary school is required
• Must have a 442A Industrial Electrician’s license for the Province of Ontario or who has served a bona fide apprenticeship and has a certificate which substantiates a claim of such service, and must have a strong working knowledge of current Ontario Electrical Code.
• Must have a minimum of 3-5 years industrial experience in a continuous process work setting and industrial environment
• Basic knowledge of mechanical systems or has mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of PLC, Ladder logic, Prox’s and sensors.
• Excellent skills in problem solving and trouble shooting
• Knowledge of and experience in safe work practices
• Must have planning and organizing skills
• Excellent math and reading skills
• Excellent observation skills and ability to teach others
• Excellent communication skills, and people and team work skills
• Basic computer skills in windows system
• Experience in working with a CMMS would be an asset.
• Experience with Rockwell equipment and Contrologix would be an asset
• Must be able to work shift work.
