Youth Employment Fund

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities recently announced the Youth Employment Fund – a $295 million investment over two years to provide young people with an entry point to long-term employment through job placements that offer the chance to learn work skills while earning income.

While the Fund is accessible to all eligible youth, service providers will employ a range of suitability factors to ensure ease of access for youth populations with high unemployment and at-risk youth, including Aboriginal youth.

The Fund will be delivered by the existing Employment Service delivery network and will provide youth with enhanced training opportunities linked to employment, job placements, participation supports, and will also provide incentives for employers.  Though the Fund will be launched in September, service providers are able to work with interested youth and employers immediately.
