			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The 2010 Ontario Budget has introduced legislation providing for a new, permanent Northern Ontario Energy Credit to help low- to middle-income families and individuals in the north who face higher energy costs than residents in southern parts of the province.</p>
<p>If you wish to receive the credit for 2010, you must fill out the application form and submit it to the Ministry of Revenue.</p>
<p>An individual will be eligible for the first two installments of the credit if they meet all of the following conditions:</p>
<ul>
<li>An application is received by the Ontario Ministry of Revenue by June 30, 2011</li>
<li>The individual is a resident of &#8216;northern Ontario&#8217; on December 31, 2009</li>
<li>The individual is a resident of &#8216;northern Ontario&#8217; on November 15, 2010 and February 15, 2011</li>
<li>If they are single with no children they must be 18 years of age or older as of November 15, 2010 for the first installment, or by February 15, 2011 for the second installment</li>
<li>The individual filed a 2009 personal income tax return, and</li>
<li>The individual (or their spouse or common-law partner) paid property taxes, rent or other amounts that qualify as Occupancy Cost for the purpose of the Ontario Property Credit inrespect of their principal residence in the north in 2009, or if they lived on reserve in the northin 2009, must have paid energy costs for their principal residence.</li>
</ul>
<p>For 2010, the credit will be paid in two installments – one in November 2010 and one in February 2011. The proposed credit would provide up to $130 a year for eligible single people 18 years of age and older,and up to $200 for eligible families, including single parents.</p>
<p>The maximum credit would be reduced for a single person with adjusted net income over $35,000, and eliminated when income exceeds $48,000. It would be reduced for families with adjusted family netincome over $45,000, and eliminated when income exceeds $65,000.</p>
<p>For the 2011 taxation year and beyond, the permanent credit would be paid quarterly, along with the government&#8217;s proposed Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, and the application would be part ofthe personal income tax return.</p>

<p>&#8220;Jr. DEEP is modeled after our daVinci Engineering Enrichment Program (DEEP) Summer Academy for high school students.  Jr. DEEP offers students the unique opportunity to learn about some of the most cutting-edge topics in science, technology, applied science and engineering. Instructors for Jr. DEEP are knowledgeable and enthusiastic undergraduate students in science and engineering who offer specialized knowledge and interest in the subject area they teach. Modeled after the extremely successful high school program daVinci Enrichment Program (DEEP), Jr. DEEP aims to engage students in grades 7 and 8 and encourage their interests through tons of hands-on and interactive activities!&#8221;</p>
<div id="_mcePaste">Each camp week of Jr. DEEP is 5 days in length (Monday to Friday). Supervised drop off begins at 8am and classes run from 9 am to 4 pm. Supervision is provided from 4 pm to 5 pm at no additional cost. The Aboriginal Program includes mornings for engineering activities and afternoons for cultural activities led by people in the community.</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On April 19, 2010 the Ontario Government announced that 2010 would be commemorated as the Year of the Métis.  <a href="http://www.ontla.on.ca/web/house-proceedings/house_detail.do?Date=2010-04-19&amp;Parl=39&amp;Sess=2&amp;locale=en#P449_95196" target="_blank">Several MPPs spoke to honouring the customs and traditions of the Métis in Ontario.</a> We have <a href="http://rsmin.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Year-of-the-Metis-Letter.pdf" target="_blank">written a letter</a> to the Honourable Christopher Bentley, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs in response to the announcement.</p>
<p>We are asking you to <a href="http://www.ontla.on.ca/web/go2.jsp?Page=/getting-involved/contact_an_mpp_legislator&amp;menuItem=getting_involved_contact&amp;locale=en" target="_blank">write similar letters to the Ministry</a> and we would appreciate receiving copies of any letters you write.  Please feel free to <a href="http://rsmin.ca/contact-us">contact us</a> if you have any questions or comments.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We thought it would be a good idea to help spread some of the actual information about HST in Ontario.  As you may already know, Red Sky Métis Independent Nation is not in favour of the HST for a number of obvious reasons.  Regardless of our position, we feel it helps our community to share information we have about the HST so our members can better prepare for the coming taxation change on July 1, 2010.  From the <a href="http://www.rev.gov.on.ca/en/taxchange/hst.html" target="_blank">Ontario Government website</a>:</p>
<p><strong>Change in taxable status (you will pay when you didn&#8217;t have to before):</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Electricity</li>
<li>Gasoline</li>
<li>Heating Fuels</li>
<li>Internet Access Fees</li>
<li>Personal Services (e.g., Hairstyling)</li>
<li>Professional Services (e.g., Legal, Accounting and Real Estate Fees and Commissions)</li>

<p><strong>Consumers will not have to pay the provincial portion of the HST for:</strong></p>

<blockquote><p><strong>There Are No Numbers.</strong> One of the worst things you can do on a resume is be vague. Don&#8217;t just list your accomplishments in a general way — have the quantitative data to back it up. If you exceeded a goal, by how much did you exceed it? If you created and distributed company performance reports, how many did you do? Adding numbers concretizes your accomplishments and paints a better picture of what you actually did.</p>
<p>Also, make sure you are answering the &#8220;how&#8221; question. If you completed five projects this year instead of the expected four, how did you do it?</p></blockquote>
