Marathon and Pic River First Nation residents barricade chemical trucks

We’ve been made aware that residents of Marathon and Pic River are currently barricading chemical trucks, which are trying to deposit pulping liquors from the Marathon Pulp plant into a spill basin, located 3 km from Marathon.  Here are two news articles that are talking about the issue:

RSMIN has requested consultation with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment on the matter, so as an Aboriginal community we are properly consulted on the environmental impact of the chemicals being put into the spill basin.  If you are a RSMIN member, live in the area, or have concerns about this issue, please contact us.
