APPRENTICESHIP

The Hydro One/Power Workers’ Union (PWU) Joint Lines Training Committee (JLTC) is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the Lineperson Apprenticeship Training Program as provided in Appendix “A” between Hydro One and the PWU.

The JLTC currently requires Lineperson Apprentices to be hired at the start of 2016.  The apprentices will be hired in Kleinburg and remain there for approximately three weeks after which they will be transferred throughout the province.   The jointly organized program is an 8,000-hour apprenticeship that, when successfully concluded, provides Power Line Technician status.  Applicants require their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent) including Grade 12 Mathematics and English to qualify for the position.

All applicants must apply through the electronic application system available through links on Hydro One (www.HydroOne.com), the Power Workers’ Union (www.pwu.ca) or the Trade Up for Success (www.tradeup.ca) websites.

Only applications received prior to September 30, 2015 will be considered for positions available in 2016.
